Issues Remain After the Confetti

Quickly --

After all the hoopla of the holidays dies down, certain issues will remain, no matter how covered over.  One issue is the travesty of Election 2014, a subject of continued interest here.  It is not too late to contact your legislator to ask for a contest of the seating of the infamous Republican newbie "victors."

The Incessant Necessity

Even while on holiday break I continue my interest in elections in the U.S.  The Democratic Party sadly seems eviscerated, though by outward appearances they certainly have not given up.  After the new year, I will resume looking into the sunken election chances of 2014.

Thank you for your patience and loyalty to this blog.

Greg Palast Wins Award;  Plans New Investigations

Internationally-known investigative reporter Greg Palast has won the Sydney award for his investigations of vote suppression efforts in 2014.  He is now planning new investigations for 2015.  These costly investigations deserve support.  It is only through reporters like Palast that we are finding out about all the cloak and dagger operations in our much-tainted elections in the U.S.  Palast deserves every award we can dream up for his work.

Brad Blog Continues to Monitor Fall-Out from Election 2014 (Thank Goodness)

More Election Problems -- One Resolved, One Questionable

Both election issues reported on at the link below raise questions about the voting going on in this country.  The use of paper ballots comes out a winner in Maine.  The political process comes out a loser in Oregon.

See the Brad Blog today for an audio of Brad Friedman on the Thom Hartmann program.

Interesting.

Races Invalid?; Republicans Divide

I have been unable to make any progress on my research project seeking to contest the results of certain Senate races.  I will have more to say on this subject and its implications soon -- schedule permitting.  It would be great to get assistance on this.  Should you know of any information or resource on this issue, please contact me through the comment button.

(From the Musical Patriot --)

Meanwhile, As Americans recover from one of the dirtiest national campaigns in memory, predictable fault lines are erupting in the Republican Party.  While wise heads undoubtedly recognize the danger of division, the grass roots are full of competing interests, primarily between "Tea Party" Republicans and "Country Club" Republicans.  A recent article in The Washington Post, for instance, reported on divisions already showing up among Virginia Republicans ahead of next year's state Assembly elections.

The Republican Party has had these splits before -- most notably in 1912, when Progressives split off from the entrenched oligarchical wing of the Party, helping to elect a Democratic President.  The same thing could happen in 1916, this time with the conservative wing either splitting off or sitting out the election.  With the kind of rhetoric coming out of Virginia, anything seems possible, as the Post noted.

Thank you, dear reader, for your continued interest in this issue, and in this blog.

Chris Christie Pulls Back the Curtain on Republican Vote Suppression

In this revealing article at Salon, Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey, the overseer of "Bridgegate," lets the U.S. Chamber of Commerce know just how important it is to have Republicans in charge of voting in as many states as possible.

via < Salon.com > --

“Would you rather have Rick Scott in Florida overseeing the voting mechanism, or Charlie Crist?” he asked. “Would you rather have Scott Walker in Wisconsin overseeing the voting mechanism, or would you rather have Mary Burke? Who would you rather have in Ohio, John Kasich or Ed FitzGerald?” he asked.

“The fact is it doesn’t matter if you don’t really care what happens in these states, you’re going to care about who is running the state in November of 2016, what kind of political apparatus they’ve set up and what kind of governmental apparatus they’ve set up to ensure a full and fair election [sic] in 2016,” he said. “All of those things are incredibly important.”

There are so many things wrong with Christie’s confession. First, of course, is the assumption that Democrats don’t want and thus can’t preside over “a full and fair election.”...

Election Fraud 2014: Where to From Here -- Extended Remarks

The holidays are impinging on my schedule, delaying my postings here.  However, there is also inspiration to be felt and uplifted by.

Very much still on my mind is the disastrous "election" of last month.  I had the opportunity to share some of what I know with a local voting registrar yesterday.  This registrar was very friendly, not your typical stoic bureaucrat by any means.  She welcomed news of all the voter suppression tactics being used these days.

This is a time to be vigilant and dutiful.  In coming days I will continue my research on just how to lobby Congress to launch an investigation of this election.  Clearly, such an investigation is warranted.  (See previous posts here and at Brad Blog.)  If such an investigation is not held American prestige will fall further around the world.  For the world is watching.  This blog is proof of that.  We Americans must do the best we can to oppose this egregious undermining of democracy through the polls.

One can begin to see and feel the American people setting aside or proscribing this election and all those who commercialized it.  While there were ever so many honest people connect with Election 2014, from candidates on down to the voters, there was such a smearing and skewing of the election by the type of campaign in many cases, as to make the vote effectively invalid.

I will be looking into this matter further.  Evidence points to a crime -- a crime against the voter, and thus, if you will, a crime against humanity.  Must we wait for some national calamity to make things right?  Why not address the problem now, possibly averting a major governmental crisis, such as we have seen before (August 2011 and the various government shut-downs, "fiscal cliffs," and other horrors)?  Let's get busy America!  Dear reader, please do educate yourself about all that is going on with elections.  Knowledge is power and it is with knowledge we must begin our task.

Why Did Polls Begin to Converge Toward End of Campaign 2014?

T. Goddard of  Political Wire claims proof of a herding instinct as polls came nearer and nearer to the average of all polls as the election drew closer.  Unfortunately, there is very little detail in the article itself.  If you can supply any detail, please contact me.

Kos Summary of the Stolen Election of 2014

The stolen election of 2014 is the story that will not die, much like the so-called election of 2000 with which people are familiar.   People worked hard and contributed money they didn't have to help elect Democrats last month.  Yet, the Democratic big-wigs dismissed the announced  results as "You can't win them all."  This is pathetic, as I have said before.

I particularly like Kos' observation that exit polls seem to be dead.  There is no world-class reporting of elections by the major media, with very few exceptions.  What we had this year was a news tidal wave consisting of the ebola non-crisis (unless you actually personally had come in contact with the very few people who were infected).  Mixed in with the tidal wave was an admixture of negative ads.  One professional creator of such ads said on C-SPAN radio:  "I love, love, love, love, LOVE negative ads!"  They are so truthful he went on to say, acknowledging only one mistake: the negative ad claiming Michelle Nunn worked for a group which supported terrorism.  (The group was Pres. George H. W. Bush's Points of Light Foundation, if I remember correctly.)  All this would be laughable if it weren't so dreadfully serious.

If this election crime is not dealt with America will suffer greatly in prestige around the world, later if not sooner.

Senate Has Power to Refuse Seats to Unqualified Persons

According to article 1, Section 5 of the Constitution*, each branch of government has the power to determine whether any individual elected to that body has the qualification to be seated.  This includes serving as arbiter of the elections which bring prospective members to the doors of the Body.

Without further adieu I call upon the branches of the United States Congress, the Senate, and the House to investigate the Election of 2014, to fairly and accurately assess the validity of said election after a thorough hearing from all parties and to act according to the facts as determined by the appropriate Committees of the Congress.  Such action shall be up to and including the refusal to seat individuals whose election cannot be certified by International standards.  A sample relation appears below.

*********************

Whereas there have been serious questions raised about certain campaign tactics; and

Whereas certain of these questions have involved the inability to verify (recount) proprietary computerized voting systems and thus the votes; and

Whereas such uncertainty leads to a lack of confidence on the part of the people, leading eventually to lack of confidence in the economic and financial system;  and

Whereas such issues and problems have been shown to be amenable to remedy through alternative ballot systems;  and

Whereas Congress has an interest in maintaining the legitimacy of its power and authority;

May it hereby be known that Congress will and shall initiate immediate action to ascertain the fairness, accuracy and validity of each and every race in Election 2014.  The appropriate committees in each Body shall have jurisdiction over this investigation and shall report back to the general membership within ninety days of the commencement of their activities.  Until such time as the legitimate questions about Election 2014 are resolved, the current Congress shall continue in power in a fashion similar fashion to that practice in earlier times.

**********************

We the people do hereby exercise our right under the Constitution to submit this matter to Congress for a redress of grievances and look forward to the fair and honest judgment of Congress in a near time.

North Carolina Machines Caught "Flipping" Votes

Another Example of Election Problems

At the link below is a report of machines in North Carolina improperly registering votes, in this case "flipping" the vote  from the Democrat, Kay Hagan, to the Republican, Thom Tillis.

As has been reported now for over a decade, computers can offer a certain kind of convenience -- to the election bureaus (not necessarily the voters), but they remain ripe for secret manipulation.

While the matter in North Carolina is not yet a proven crime the situation should be investigated by the U.S. Justice Department.

Republican Dirty Trick in Kentucky

I am handling the allegations of Republican dirty tricks in Election 2014 in blog fashion by bringing forth incidents as I discover them.  This is the best I can do now with limited resources.  However, I am grateful for the technology which allows me to do at least this much.

Over the next weeks I believe the total picture will emerge and the depth of breadth of the interference with the validity of the vote this year will become clear.

Below is one dirty trick in Kentucky, a state in which Republicans were terrified of losing.  How terrified were they?  Apparently they were terrified enough to send bogus mailers to voters in three counties trying to scare voters into thinking they would be violating the law by voting.  The Allison Grimes campaign was planning a law suit over the matter according to this article:
<  Kentucky U.S. Senate Candidate Suit Against Republicans   >.
