Here is a historical video showing a rebounding Sen. Edward Kennedy demolishing Mitt Romney's supposed lead in the 1994 Senate race in Massachusetts. Putting aside for a moment the matter of Kennedy's strong support for mandatory minimum sentencing, the rest of his presentation is solidly and forecefully progressive in content and message.
I am presenting this as something of a response to the tepidness of many of our current candidates. A new range of Democratic Senate candidates for 2016 is holding some promise of quality and strength. We badly need to oust the fascist Republican element from the leadership position they currently hold in what has been the world's greatest deliberative body. This is no joking matter and is an issue which needs steady attention over the coming months.
